Fabian Knopf first came to China in 2009 and has since lived in Xi’an, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Shenzhen as well as Hanoi, Vietnam. He understands the fundamental differences in regulatory and business practices between different regions in China. His experience lies with advisory for corporate and M&A, employment, and tax for European and North American SMEs in China having advised on Sino-foreign joint venture formations, corporate (re-)structuring and employment matters. Over the time Fabian has worked in China, he witnessed the transformation of the country from an export-driven economy to one that embraces consumption and has advised companies on how to adapt to this change. His focus lies on industrial sectors such as the automotive industry and other transportation companies as well as their network of suppliers, but also consumer electronics and other durables, medical devices, and NGOs. While working in Shanghai in 2012, Fabian was a workshop leader for business with the German Chamber of Commerce. Fabian was also a frequent guest lecturer to graduate programs at Peking University’s HSBC Business School, as well as the Co-Director of Startup Grind Shenzhen and a Mentor at Startup Weekend, while working in Shenzhen between 2012 and 2015. After completing studies at Hochschule Furtwangen University in Germany and Northwest University (西北大学) in China, Fabian worked for a leading regional corporate service provider, a global player and now works for the law firm R&P China Lawyers. Fabian is fluent in German and English, and speaks intermediate Mandarin Chinese.
